Abetti's,Marie-Odile Germain's French in Action 2nd(second) edition (French in Action : A Beginning Course in Language and Culture : The Capretz Method: Textbook )(1994) ReviewThis textbook accompanies the French in Action DVD Set: Part 1 & 2 (Programs 1-52) (Discs 1-12) video program. This text covers all 52 episodes of the program. In it you will find a transcript of each of the lessons, with the exception of lesson one. There are some illustrations in the text that further explains the vocabulary and/or concepts covered in the lesson. At the end of each lesson, you'll find some additional reading material to further help your French learning experience, plus questions to see how well you comprehend the information provided to you.
I found this textbook to be a great help in understanding what I was seeing on the video lessons. There was a time or two when I would watch the video and think I heard them say one thing, and then I would read the transcripts in the book and discover they were actually saying something else, then when I watched that episode again, it clicked what they were saying. If you're using the video component of the French In Action program, I highly recommend adding at least one of the textbooks to your studies, and this one is nice in that it covers all 52 episodes.
